Why I didn’t watch The Hobbit trilogy until I was 18
A friend and I were talking about The Hobbit movies when she mentioned that she’d been watching them for the last couple of years.
The first thing she said to me was, “The only thing you really need to know about The Lord of the Rings is that it’s the last movie in the trilogy.”
It was a funny comment.
I hadn’t heard that until she’d mentioned it.
Then she asked, “So you’ve seen the first two movies?”
And I was like, “No.”
She was right.
I’d seen the Hobbit movies before, but never in this sequence.
Then, when I looked at the trailer, I knew that I wasn’t going to like it.
I just didn’t want to watch it.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released in theaters in November 2005 and has become a massive box office success.
It’s one of the most acclaimed and beloved films in film history, earning nearly $3 billion worldwide.
